Judging Criteria

A Rating Sheet exists for the judging of the research projects. Based on the rating criteria used by the judges, the top three research reports will be selected. A copy of the rating sheet is on file.

DISBURSEMENT OF AWARDS:

First Place Award: $10,000

  1. The amount of $4,000 will be awarded to the winner of the research competition to be used as they wish.
  2. The amount of $6,000 will be disbursed for payment towards higher learning at an accredited university, trade school, or other higher learning institution. The stipend will be disbursed on an as needed basis. Any money received back as a result of withdrawal from class(es) should be returned to the foundation to be applied to future education pursuit.

Second Place Award: $6,000

  1. The amount of $2,500 will be awarded to the winner of the research competition to be used as they wish.
  2. The amount of $3,500 will be disbursed for payment towards higher learning at an accredited university, trade school, or other higher learning institution. The stipend will be disbursed on an as needed basis. Any money received back as a result of withdrawal from class(es) should be returned to the foundation to be applied to future education pursuit.

Third Place Award: $4,000

  1. The amount of $1,500 will be awarded to the winner of the research competition to be used as they wish.
  2. The amount of $2,500 will be disbursed for payment towards higher learning at an accredited university, trade school, or other higher learning institution. The stipend will be disbursed on an as needed basis. Any money received back as a result of withdrawal from class(es) should be returned to the foundation to be applied to future education pursuit.

Top 7 semifinalists (places 4-10) will receive a $100 participation fee. The top 3 finalists are exempt from this participation reward.

* Participants who receive the first place award will not be eligible for future competition.

CRITERIA FOR ORAL PRESENTATION

  1. A total of three finalists will participate in the oral presentation competition stage. Finalists are selected based on the score awarded to their research report by the judges in the blind review process.
  2. A total of 15 minutes will be allotted to each finalist to answer questions from the judges regarding their research. Members of the panel of judges will pose questions to the finalist.
  3. An oral presentation rating sheet is used during this process. A copy is on file.

FINAL SELECTION PROCESS

A compilation of the scores received from the blind review process and the oral presentation will be tallied and awards will be presented to the three candidates receiving the three highest scores. With the highest score earner receiving the first place award, the next highest score earner receiving the second place award, and the third highest score earner receiving the third place award.

Winners will be contacted and the award presented.
